Ans:The internet originated from an
experimental network called ARPANET created in 1969 by
the US Department of DARPA. Later it
changed to DARPANET. In the mid 1980,the DOD
stopped funding after whose NSF joined
ARPANET. The NSF developed another network
called NSFNET which linked five regional
areas and allowed researchers across the US to
access data. Meanwhile, other several
networks were developed by different organizations and
by 1955the internet was opened for general
public. In this way internet evolved.

How does internet work?
Ans: At the source computer, the message
or the file to be sent is firstly divided into very small
parts called packets. Each packet is
given a number serial wise e.g. 1,2,3. All these packets are
then sent to the address of destination
in random manner. If a packet is garbled or lost, it is
demanded again. The packets are
reassembled in the order of their number and the original
message/file is obtained. In this way,
internet works.
